At MINI, we tackle the difficult in vessel conversion and repair. Our work is done to ABS
and USCG standards, as required. We average over 100 jobs per year.
Since 1976, we have been recognized by the marine industry as a problem solving yard...
offering innovative, pracitical solutions in a timely manner. This reputation has been earned by
our experienced staff of professionals.
Our expertise begins at the top of the organization. Don Slater, President/General Manager,
and Mark Donahue, Vice President, are each graduate naval architects and have each been in
vessel construction, conversion and repair for over 30 years.
Our engineering staff consists of registered naval architects and marine engineers. They
have a combination of sea experience, theoretical knowledge and operating backgrounds giving them
practical ability and insight that ultimately benefits our customers.
Utilizing this small responsive team along with our project superintendents and support
staff, we can shorten project start up time, minimizing the turnaround for our customers.
MINI has always been a small company in terms of staff, placing emphasis on the
craftsmen's self reliance and problem solving ability. The small staff and easy lines of
communication eliminate the red tape present in most yards. This successful blending of the craft
input with the requirements of the job leads to the best solution to the problem, with the
customer being the ultimate winner.
The key link in our organization is the job superintendent. Providing supervision on the
job to allow the most efficient use of our talent, the superintendent must work with management,
purchasing, and engineering to assure the proper timing and sequencing of tasks to deliver the
job on time, yet within budget. Our superintendents are knowlegeable within all the crafts. They
combine varied and extensive experience with their long term employment at MINI to get the right
craftsmen on the job at the right time... which ultimately benefits our customers.
Our superintendents make for a "win-win" situation; both the customer and the yard benefit.
